Dubai investors 'prepare £250m-plus bid' to take over at Tottenham

Tottenham will become the ninth Premier League team to come under foreign ownership after it emerged a Middle East syndicate ready to make a move for the club.
The Dubai-based group is unwilling to go public with its intentions but reports in the Daily Mirror claim contact has already been made with Joe Lewis, head of the ENIC investment group which owns 82 per cent of the north London club.
Bahamas-based Lewis, who lost £400m from his personal fortune following the collapse of American investment bank Bear Stearns earlier this year, is understood to be considering selling Spurs when the time is right.
Sheikh Mohammad of the Dubai ruling family failed in his attempts to take over Liverpool with DIC
A sale of Spurs could probably fetch around £250m at this stage, with the club having qualified for the UEFA Cup for a third year running.
But Lewis and his partner, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, are looking for considerably more as they believe the value of the club will double over the next few years.
That valuation would be viable if new boss Juande Ramos, who has been given a major show of financial support by the captures of Croatia star uka Modric and Barcelona youngster Giovani Dos Santos, can fulfil his aim of taking the club into the Champions League.
The Dubai syndicate - unrelated to Liverpool suitors DIC, who are still locked in a tug of war for the Anfield club - want to buy Spurs having passed on the opportunity to invest in Manchester City before the club was bought by Thaksin Shinawatra.
