Eleanor, 13, strikes gold

Eleanor Simmons, Britain's youngest competitor at the Paralympic Games, claimed a shock gold medal in Beijing today.

The 13-year-old from Walsall won the S6 100metres freestyle in one minute 18.75 seconds and said: "I had a dream about it, but I came second."

Her success was followed by a swimming victory for David Roberts in the men's S7 100m - the eighth Paralypics gold of his life.

With cyclist Anthony Kappes and pilot rider Barney Storey setting a world record in winning the B&VI one kilometre time-trial, the British gold count was up to seven.
