End of the Lane for Robinson as Spurs agree deal with PSV for Gomes

Tottenham have agreed a deal with PSV Eindhoven for the transfer of Brazil
goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes - seemingly spelling the end of Paul Robinson's stay
at White Hart Lane.
The club will now discuss personal terms with the 27-year-old with the deal also subject to the player acquiring a work permit.
Gomes, a fans' favourite at PSV, had requested a transfer shortly after the club claimed their 21st league title last season, citing differences with managing director Jan Reker.
Out: Robinson
In: Gomes
The keeper, who made his name at Cruzeiro, was an ever-present in PSV's
title-winning campaign, conceding only 24 goals in 34 league games.
It was his fourth successive Dutch league win since joining the club in 2004.
The imminent signing of Gomes confirms the long-held suspicion that England
stopper Robinson has failed to convince manager Juande Ramos that he is worthy
of the Spurs number one jersey.
And if reports prove to be true, the former Leeds keeper could soon be on his
way to Aston Villa to fill the hole left by Scott Carson - ironically the man who ousted Robinson from the national team for the ill-fated Euro 2008 qualifier against Croatia last November - after the Villans failed to make his loan move from Liverpool permanent.
