England chief Andrew confident Flood and Hodgson will travel to New Zealand

Rob Andrew is confident key backs Charlie Hodgson and Toby Flood will be fit to fly to New Zealand tonight despite receiving head injuries during the 17-14 win over the Barbarians.

Hodgson required 13 stitches beneath his left eye after a clash of heads with flanker Jerry Collins and Flood was forced off after a high tackle.

Andrew, who will lead the two-Test tour, said: “They will both be fine. The initial reports are that they will both be fit to travel. It was a physical work-out, that’s for sure.”

The physical side of the game continued after the final whistle, with a reported bust up taking place in the tunnel. It involved Nick Easter, the England captain, and Australian lock Justin Harrison, who, according to one eye witness, came to blows.

Andrew said: “The Barbarians were determined to stop us playing and they  succeeded. In terms of the All Blacks, it has got little bearing. The Barbarians have a right to do what they want. They caused us problems in a very physical contest.”
