England star gave cash to club-mate found in drugs raid

A Middlesbrough starlet on trial for drug dealing has told police £100 found in a raid on his home was given to him by team-mate Jonathan Woodgate, to buy a drink

Lewis Walker, aged 17, was found with £25,000 worth of cannabis and almost £2,000 cash in his bedroom on October 15 last year, Teesside Crown Court heard.

Walker told police that of £170 found in his wallet during the raid, £70 was from his wages and the other £100 was given to him the night before by Woodgate while the pair were in the Tall Trees nightclub, Yarm.

Walker said Woodgate told him to 'get himself a drink' with the £100. He added the England defender had never given him cash before.

Walker appeared in court with his mum Tracy Walker, 37, both of Kirkstone Road, Berwick Hills, Middlesbrough.

Lewis Walker denies possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

Tracy Walker has admitted possession of cannabis with intent to supply. She has also admitted possessing cocaine, but denied the more serious charge of possessing it with intent to supply.
