Eriksson demands summer war chest of £30m

Sven Goran Eriksson will tell Manchester City's owner Thaksin Shinawatra that he needs £30million to turn the club into genuine Champions League contenders this summer.

Thaksin, who yesterday pleaded not guilty in one of two corruption cases being brought against him at the Thailand Supreme Court, said he is coming to Manchester this weekend to 'tighten the bolt' after growing concerned at City's drift away from the UEFA Cup places.

Eriksson remains disappointed at the small amount of money he was allowed to spend in January and was frustrated at being unable to firm up his interest in Dinamo Zagreb's £17m-rated Luka Modric.
