Euro 2008, Germany v Poland: follow all the latest action here

Lukas Podolski - the Polish-born Germany midfielder - ensured the Germans made a winning start to Euro 2008 against Poland in Klagenfurt.

What could have been a tricky game for Germany turned out to be comfortable. Poland had a few chances but through Michael Ballack, Torsten Frings and Clemens Fritz they always had the Poles under pressure in midfield and fighting for possession.

Podolski slid home Miroslav Klose's pass from close range after 20 minutes and he added his second with a powerful rising volley that left Poland keeper Artur Boruc helpless 18 minutes from time.
