Europa! UEFA Cup in line for a facelift and a new name

The UEFA Cup could be rebranded the Europa Cup next year as part of a revamp.

The proposal emerged at the meeting of the new European Club Association, who replaced the G14 body, and UEFA later confirmed they will make a decision in September.

Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: 'Everyone has always had the impression that the UEFA Cup is a second-class competition and I believe we have to change the branding in order to increase interest.'
