Everton boss Moyes close to new deal as he eyes Turkey star

David Moyes is closing in on a £60,000-a-week pay packet and a long-awaited breakthrough in the transfer market.
The Everton manager is in advanced talks with chairman Bill Kenwright over a five-year deal worth £15million that would double his current salary and end any lingering uncertainty over his future.
Turkish delight: Everton's manager David Moyes
He expects to sign it before the start of the season and is just as confident of solving his most pressing transfer need by landing Turkey's Euro 2008 anchor man Mehmet Topal.
A move for Gilberto Silva came just too late to prevent the Arsenal midfielder joining Panathinaikos, but Moyes may fare better with Topal after the 22-year old Galatasaray favourite said: 'I am aware of Everton's interest, and if the club feel it would be good for them to accept an offer, I would be more than willing to make the move.'
Topal would fill the void left by Lee Carsley's move to Birmingham and Everton hope to complete the signing for around £2.5m.
As well as chasing Topal, Moyes is looking to bring in Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher and Real Zaragoza striker Diego Milito.
The search for a right back goes on, however, after a late change of mind over a £700,000 move for Lille's Switzerland defender Stephan Lichtsteiner.
Striker Andy Johnson appears to be on his way out, though, with Fulham, Wigan and Sunderland leading the £10m chase.
