Everton manager David Moyes is hoping that a bid of £4million will make Cameroon midfielder Stephane M'Bia his first summer signing.
The powerful 22-year-old currently plays for Rennes in France and has been identified by Moyes as the perfect candidate for his midfield 'enforcer' role after Lee Carsley departed and Brazilian Gilberto Silva turned him down in favour of Greek Side Panathinaikos.
Patience: Everton manager David Moyes is still trying to make his first signing during the summer transfer window.
According to The Mirror, Gilberto told Everton he did not want to play against Arsenal after such a long spell under Arsene Wenger.
M'Bia, who plays in front of the defence but can also fill in at right back, has been contacted through his advisers and is keen to come to Goodison - with the clubs close to sorting out the fee.
