'Excited' Flintoff can fire up England

Andrew Flintoff's burning desire to win in India can be a key factor for England over the next couple of months.

Flintoff was captain two and a half years ago when the then Ashes holders achieved a draw in a Test series against Sachin Tendulkar and Co before being overwhelmed 5-1 in the one-day internationals.

Now England's leading all-rounder is back in the ranks as a member of Kevin Pietersen's India-bound squad and Peter Moores says his determination to do well is obvious.

"Quite a few of the lads did the one-day tour to India a couple of years ago when we got beaten quite badly and they want to go back and show we've improved," said the coach as Pietersen's outfit prepare to leave Antigua and their Stanford Super Series humiliation behind them before heading for Mumbai tomorrow.

"It's going to be tough but it is probably one of the most exciting places to play because you are in front of big crowds and people who are massively passionate about the game.

"All the senior members of our team, like 'Freddie', are excited about going there with a group of players who they think can have a real good go. That's exciting when you've got your big players thinking that and it should give us a good chance."

Former England batsman Ed Joyce, meanwhile, has confirmed that he is leaving Middlesex for Sussex.

Joyce, 30, spent 10 years at Lord's and captained them to last summer's Twenty20 Cup triumph.

He will leave after playing in next month's £3m Champions League tournament in India.
