Chelsea appear to have failed in a last-ditch attempt to hijack John Bostock's transfer to Tottenham.
Sportsmail understands that the 16-year-old Crystal Palace wonderkid has shunned a move from the Stamford Bridge club, despite the beaten Champions League finalists offering more money to both Palace and the player himself.
Palace prince: John Bostock is heading across the River Thames to White Hart Lane
Bostock - who made his made his league debut on October 29, 2007, at the age of 15 years and 287 days, playing 20 minutes as a substitute in a 2–0 home defeat to Watford - is understood to see his future at White Hart Lane despite the lure of life at a 'Top Four' club.
Chelsea's sporting director, Frank Arnesen, is believed to have instigated the last-minute approach for the Camberwell-born central midfielder but Spurs have won the race and are set to complete deal - worth up to £5million - by the end of this week.
