The David Pipe-trained gelding is the leading British-trained contender for the big hurdle the committed front-runner is expected to attempt to draw the string out of his opponents.
Scudamore is trying to emulate his famous father Peter who twice won the Champion on Celtic Shot and Granville Again, the latter being trained by David Pipe's father Martin.
Tom said: "I've got to use my jumping down the back and not my speed otherwise I'll use up all my petrol.
"Harchibald and Sublimity might let me go but I can't imagine Sizing Europe will.
"Others may try and make me go faster than I want but I'm prepared for that and I'll ride my bown race. Osana has got so much pace that there won't be that many who can go with me."
The ride also admitted that, in the build-up, he had read extracts from his father's autobiography, Scu, to find out more on how he prepared for the race.
He added: "Things have changed alot since Granville Again but it has been useful in getting the mindset right."
Scudamore walked the Cheltenham track at 10.30 this morning with his father and was delighted with the going.
He said: "It's just on the soft side of good, perfect really."
Peter urged his son to keep cool on the famlously punishing uphill run to the finish.
Peter said: "When I won on Celtic Shot I thought I was beaten jumping the last. But it is a lifetime up there. But you have to keep balanced and keep your head as so much can happen."
