Ex-Rangers boss Souness slams 'chancer' Dida and backs Celtic

AC Milan goalkeeper Dida's reaction to his 'attack' at Parkhead last night has been slammed by former Rangers boss Graeme Souness.

The Brazilian began chasing a supporter who tapped his cheek following Celtic's winning goal but halted suddenly and collapsed, before requiring stretcher assistance to leave the field clutching a giant ice pack to his face.

Watching on Sky TV, Souness said after the 2-1 success: "The fan shouldn't have been there, but Dida has seen the chance to get something from it and has gone to ground."

Fellow pundit Jamie Redknapp said: "The keeper has to be embarrassed when he sees that in the morning."

Dida is no stranger to controversy having been hit by a flare during a quarter-final tie against Inter Milan in the San Siro three seasons ago.

Last night's referee at Parkhead, German Markus Merk, was also in charge on that occasion and the game was abandoned. UEFA awarded a 5-0 aggregate victory to AC Milan, who progressed to the semi-finals.

Inter were subsequently fined £132,000 by UEFA and forced to play their next four European games behind closed doors, including one against Rangers in the 2005/06 season.
