F1 finale would grace Hollywood

Sunday.
If you've seen it you'll know what I mean, if you haven't may I suggest it's a well spent four minutes and 33 seconds on YouTube when you have a spare moment.
Al's team need a big performance to secure their NFL legacy and he explains that sport is all about "the inches in front of your face", in other words the smallest of margins make the biggest of differences.
It's a pretty apt analogy for this weekend. We've a Formula One title race that is rewriting the history books.
Although only the leader, Fernando Alonso, can walk away with the title this weekend, with 25 points for a win and 42 between the top five drivers, there are bagfuls of permutations.
A perfect example of how things ebb and flow during a race was evident in South Korea last time out. Mark Webber was running second to his Red Bull team-mate Sebastian Vettel and as it stood he remained the Championship leader. He crashed, meaning Vettel was the new leader until his engine blew, giving Alonso the win, 25 precious points and the title lead to a third man. All that in just 55 wet, frantic, exciting laps.
And now we arrive in Brazil, the race that has crowned the world champion for the past five seasons.
Here's the rub. If Ferrari's Fernando Alonso wins the grand prix, he will be champion, unless his nearest rival, Webber, finishes in the top four.
If the Aussie takes the win, he will knock out Jenson Button and take back the Championship lead, unless Alonso is on the podium, in which case the Spaniard retains the lead.
Lewis Hamilton's chances are slim — 21 points off the pace, he knows a win will guarantee that the title goes to the last race in Abu Dhabi and, at the same time, knock out team-mate Button.
Vettel needs a win as he trails by 25 points, a win for Webber or Alonso and it's as good as over regardless of where he finishes.
Finally, to the man who comes here with fond memories of 12 months ago — Button, the defending champion. He trails by 42 points and even if he wins on Sunday and Alonso is in the top six then his defence is finally over.
I'm not sure what Pacino would say to the drivers ahead of this one but I suspect it might be about more than just a few inches.
See you on Sunday!
