Shock troops: Smith leads the Chasetown celebrations after his winner

Smith scored a diving header a minute from time from a Kyle Perry cross to secure the British Gas Midlands League side a third-round tie at home to Cardiff.

Crisis club Luton gave their season a massive lift last night by setting up a lucrative third-round tie against Liverpool.

Striker Calvin Andrew was Luton's hero, scoring the only goal on 54 minutes against fellow League One side Nottingham Forest at Kenilworth Road.

Steven Gerrard and Co will now revisit the scene of their 5-3 win two seasons ago, also in the FA Cup third round, for a televised clash on January 6.

The tie will be a welcome distraction for Luton, who are second-from-bottom in League One and in administration

Southend set up an Essex derby against Dagenham and Redbridge by brushing aside Oxford 3-0 at Roots Hall.

Charlie MacDonald headed the home side in front on five minutes, then missed a chance to double his tally just before half-time when his penalty was saved.

Seconds later, though, Dean Morgan scored from the spot.

MacDonald added the third in the last minute.

Barnet were seven minutes away from being taken into extra time by Blue Square Premier team Burton Albion before Adam Birchall scored the only goal to earn them a third-round tie at Swindon.

Former Bolton striker Michael Ricketts scored a penalty five minutes from time as Walsall beat Northampton 1-0 to set up a home tie against Millwall.
