FA right to host England Under 21 clash at Wembley, says Pearce

Pearce: Wembley backer
Stuart Pearce has backed the FA’s decision to play Friday night's England Under-21 clash against Portugal at Wembley, insisting the experience can only benefit his youngsters.
Despite ticket prices starting at just £10 for adults and £5 for concessions, the 90,000 seater arena is expected to be only a third full for England’s final group game against Portugal ahead of next summer’s U-21 European Championships.
But Pearce said: ‘It is vital that the players get some experience of Wembley. We spoke at the FA many months ago about bringing the game here. It will be a fantastic experience for them.
‘What we really don't want is a group of players to step out for the seniors and for it to be the first time they have played at Wembley.
‘So it doesn't daunt them — it is their home. I expect my players to come here and raise their game.’
England need only a draw against Portugal to win their group and progress to next month’s two-leg play-off, victory in which would see them book their place in the finals.
ENGLAND (4-4-2): Hart; Cranie, Mancienne, Taylor, Bertrand; Lennon, Noble, Huddlestone, Milner; Agbonlahor, Campbell.
