Fabregas aims to stay at Arsenal after all — but he wants trophies

But the 20-year-old showed how disappointed he was at the way the Gunners' season has declined by warning his team-mates that they must start converting potential into trophies.
Fabregas is currently in contract talks at Arsenal with Real Madrid among a host of top European clubs waiting to pounce should negotiations break down.
The Spain midfielder, who signed an eight-year extension to his contract in 2006, has long insisted he wants to remain with the Gunners.
And after guiding them to yesterday's 2-0 win over Reading, he said: "My future? I really hope it belongs to Arsenal."
There were fears that his commitment to the club might be wavering after Arsenal's title and Champions League dreams had been dashed earlier this month.
"We are all disappointed for the season, how it finished," said Fabregas. "I think we did pretty well all season but, at the end, it was disappointing. We don't want to always say: 'Next year, next year'. I think it is a mistake. We want to do it now." But his desire to stay at the club will delight manager Arsene Wenger as he plans next season's campaign.
Wenger, desperate to keep his team together, may also offer Fabregas the captain's armband.
He seems to be growing increasingly frustrated by the behaviour of current skipper William Gallas and has given the clearest indication yet that he will strip him of the captaincy in the summer.
It is understood that Gallas has been unable to impose his leadership on the core of the first team, some of whom are rapidly losing respect for him.
They are unimpressed with his punctuality and his antics on the pitch, such as the tantrum he had in the 2-2 draw at Birmingham in February, when he refused to leave the pitch after Arsenal conceded a late equaliser.
