Fans still behind me, says boss Jol

Martin Jol says he will not be pushed aside at Tottenham.

Jol knows he is having to fight for his future after club officials were caught out meeting Sevilla coach Juande Ramos last month.

But, grilled by supporters at a special event held in Enfield last night, the manager told fans he is determined to stay even if it means taking a seat next to them in the stands.

Jol said: "I was very disappointed with what happened but I have moved on. I promise I'm not going anywhere. I have two years left on my contract and I would like to think that I will see those years out.

"I told the chairman [Daniel Levy] that if I'm not sitting in the dug-out I will be sitting in the stands as a fan because that's what I am. He won't get rid of me that easily. I used to wave at the fans quite quickly when they sang my name, but now I leave it a while so the board can see and hear it."

The Dutchman admitted the team's start to the season hasn't been good enough, with them winning just one of their first five games.

Tottenham have been vulnerable from set-pieces and blew a great chance against Fulham last weekend after leading 2-0 and 3-1 because of their bad defending.

Jol added: "I am sh**ting myself every time someone has a corner against us. We know it's not right but we are working on it twice a week so it should get better.

"Our form does need to be sorted out, it's not good enough. I'm very very miserable because we have only won one of five games and it's not good enough."
