Henry became one of the all-time great Premier League players in his eight years at Arsenal, but has struggled since his move to Spain.

Ferguson has made a habit of making surprise signings over the years, not least when he pinched Eric Cantona from Leeds in 1992.

The United boss still hopes to sign Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham, with the new season fast approaching.
