Fight for your place, O'Neill tells Sorensen

Thomas Sorensen has been told by Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill to concentrate on his job after he asked for a meeting with the Villa boss to clarify his reasons for bringing in another goalkeeper, Scott Carson, on loan from Liverpool.

O'Neill said: "I've seen the quotes attributed to Thomas Sorensen and my position is one I've held for a considerable time and that is the manager is the one usually who decides who comes in and out of the football club. I am going to try to be in that position for a little while longer."

He added: "I would have thought any meeting was going to be straightforward. The answer is simple: 'Fight for your place in the team'."
