Flintoff to undergo intensive treatment in bid to make crucial one-dayer

Andrew Flintoff will remain with England's NatWest Series squad for the time being following a further assessment on his ankle injury.

The all-rounder visited a specialist yesterday and was forced to miss today's sixth match at The Oval. He will continue to receive treatment with the hope of him being fit for Saturday's seventh and final match of the series at Lord's.

The England and Wales Cricket Board said in a statement: "Following discussions with a specialist yesterday and further review by the ECB medical team today, it has been decided that Andrew Flintoff will remain with England's NatWest Series squad.

"He will continue to receive treatment and his injury will be re-assessed by the ECB medical staff over the next 48 hours ahead of the final NatWest Series match against India on Saturday."
