Folan chip puts win on a plate

Phil Brown had claimed this was Hull's most important game of the season and would give the Tigers a genuine indication of their play-off hopes — so this result will give their fans much hope.

The hosts had been booed off at half time after a dreary opening 45 minutes in which they rarely threatened and looked as though they were still suffering from jet-lag after their warm-weather training camp in Dubai.

But Caleb Folan won the match in the dying moments.

Bryan Hughes and Fraizer Campbell both struck weak efforts but that was as good as it got in the first half. Michael Mifsud had Coventry's best chances.

Hull won it when centreback Wayne Brown booted the ball 50 yards, over the Coventry defence, and Caleb Folan beat the offside trap.

The striker then produced a smart chip and the ball went in off a post.
