Arsenal agree deal to sell Emmanuel Adebayor to Man City for £25m

City are looking to complete a deal in time for the club's pre-season tour to South Africa, which begins later this week.
Manager Mark Hughes was quizzed on his bid for Adebayor as he unveiled his latest signing, Carlos Tevez, at Eastlands this afternoon.
He said: "There has been discussions between ourselves and Arsenal. There has been contact, there is a deal to be done possibly but it has not been concluded."
City have also made offers for Chelsea captain John Terry, who is yet to publicly commit his immediate future to the Stamford Bridge club.
Hughes said: "I have fantastic respect for John Terry but he is very much a Chelsea player at this moment in time."
The City manager was cited as a key reason by Tevez for persuading him to come to the club and he insisted money "was not a factor".
The former Manchester United striker has signed a five-year deal worth £130,000-a-week while his agent, Kia Joorabchian, has reached a £25m agreement for the club to take on his economic rights.
Tevez, who Sir Alex Ferguson claimed had ignored his attempts to keep the Argentine at United, said of his move: "City showed me they have the ambition to become one of the biggest clubs in the world so it was an easy decision for me. I am happy to be here.
"I was at United for two years and Alex never called me or sent text messages. The only time Alex talked to me was after the match against Roma because I was due to play for Argentina. I don't think that is the way to treat a player who spent two years at the club. This is a new part of my life and I am happy to be here."
With Tevez soon expected to be joined by Adebayor, Arsenal boss Wenger will move quickly for French-born Morocco international Chamakh in order to fend off interest from other Premier League clubs.
Fulham, Tottenham and Sunderland have also been linked with the 25-year-old, who has just one year to go on his contract and has refused to open talks with his club over an extension.
Bordeaux are now resigned to losing him and manager Laurent Blanc wants the player's future to be decided before he takes his side on a pre-season tour of Canada next Wednesday.
Wenger was impressed with the striker's performances in helping Bordeaux win the French League and publicly confirmed his interest in the player this month.
Chamakh had earlier revealed he would be keen on a move to Emirates Stadium. He said: "I want to play in the Premier League and a club like Arsenal would be a dream. If they were to come calling, I would certainly give them a positive answer."
For Wenger's part, the chance to sign a tall, rangy striker for a cut-price fee — Chamakh has a £7m buy-out clause in his contract — would appear too inviting to turn down, even if Chamakh is an unknown quantity in England.
His goalscoring form is far from prolific and he averages less than a goal every four games in his career, although he did net 14 times last term.
But Wenger has an enviable track record of unearthing gems from French football and is confident Chamakh can make the same impact as Adebayor, who was also relatively unheard of before moving from Monaco in 2006.
