Arsenal on alert as Juventus say they will consider offers for Felipe Melo

Felipe Melo has moved a step closer to leaving Juventus after the Serie A club indicated they will listen to offers for the Brazil international.

Reports in Italy claim Melo could join Arsenal this summer in an exchange deal which would see Gunners left back Gael Clichy move the other way.

"Melo's situation is the same as other players at the club," Juve's general director Giuseppe Marotta told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Speaking to Mediaset Premium, Marotta added: "The same applies to him (Melo) as all the other players when it comes to deciding what is in our and his interest."

"We are therefore carefully evaluating the situation and will listen to any offers that come in."

The 27-year-old midfielder was linked with a switch to Arsenal last summer before he joined Juve from Fiorentina.

Italian newspaper Il Corriere dello Sport claimed yesterday that Arsene Wenger was ready to strike a deal that would see Frenchman Clichy make the move to Italy.

Melo, who was a regular starter for Brazil at the World Cup, is under contract with the Turin giants until June 2014.
