Harry Redknapp’s fury over Spurs Christmas party

Captain Robbie Keane is thought to have organised the £2,000-a-head jaunt despite Redknapp stressing that the players should resist the temptation to celebrate, and the Spurs boss revealed he would discipline the 16 involved at the start of next week.
Redknapp repeatedly refused to answer questions about the nature of the punishments but admitted: "I'm not happy about it. I didn't know anything about the trip at all. It is being dealt with internally. I'll sort out tomorrow's game against Blackburn, and then sort them [the players] out.
"It's something we will keep in house and it will be sorted out. My views on Christmas parties are that they're more trouble than they're worth. It happens at every club. Every club has had problems with it but on Monday morning it will be the end of the matter."
Last Saturday, three days after the Dublin trip, Spurs lost 1-0 at home to Wolves but Redknapp insisted the players' revelry had no bearing on that shock defeat.
Spurs went on to beat Manchester City 3-0 on Wednesday and Redknapp said: "It didn't affect the result against Wolves but that doesn't make it right. However, it is widely known I do not approve of Christmas parties and I've always made it clear players should only drink in moderation."
Yet the future now looks uncertain for Keane, who could be stripped of the captaincy and may even be on his way out of White Hart Lane for a second time in January.
His return from Liverpool was initially a success but his displays this season have been below-par. Redknapp has always maintained that Keane was a key part of his plans but it now appears likely that the manager would be willing to show him the door. There was some good news for Redknapp, though, as Ledley King trained today and could return for the Christmas fixtures against Fulham and West Ham.
