John Terry confident knee injury won't stop him making Euro finals

John Terry believes he will recover from a knee injury in time to earn a call-up to England's
Euro 2012 squad.
The Chelsea skipper has been ruled out for up to two months following an operation on the problem he sustained when colliding with a post against Portsmouth on January 8.
Terry's absence meant England caretaker manager Stuart Pearce didn't have to worry about whether to name him in his squad today for the friendly against Holland next Wednesday. There had been a clamour in certain quarters for Terry not to be selected while he awaits trial for allegedly making a racist remark towards Anton Ferdinand.
The hearing is set for July 9, which is after the Euro 2012 finals.
Terry has always pleaded his innocence and, as Standard Sport revealed when he was stripped of the England captaincy by the Football Association earlier this month, he is still determined to play at the championships in Poland and Ukraine.
But it is his fitness that has provided another cause for concern because he has struggled with the knee injury since his last game for Chelsea, against QPR on January 28.
The 31-year-old failed a fitness test ahead of the Champions League match at Napoli in midweek, which prompted him to have surgery to cure the issue yesterday. It is understood the operation went well and Terry was due to meet with the medical team today to discuss the manner of his rehabilitation.
Terry will have just three League games to prove himself ready for Euro 2012 should he take the full two months to return to action and some pundits have questioned whether his form merits a place in the team regardless.
However, Terry is understood to be feeling positive that he will make a full recovery and believes his performances this season have shown he can still make a strong contribution to the national team this summer.
Terry's importance on the pitch has already been
noticed by Chelsea, who have not kept a clean sheet in the five games he has missed so far with a total of 10 goals being scored past goalkeeper Petr Cech.
