New deal could boost Chelsea's kitty

Chelsea are close to announcing a new sponsorship deal with Samsung, which could give them vital transfer funds this summer.

The club signed a five-year deal worth £11million a season in 2005 and it is believed negotiations over an extension have been taking place since the start of the year.

Chelsea are under pressure to negotiate a good deal following Manchester United's announcement of a contract with AON Corporation. They agreed a four-year deal worth £80m last month although it will only start at the beginning of the 2010-2011 season.
