O'Neill's anxious wait after Petrov injury

Aston Villa midfielder Stiliyan Petrov has undergone a scan on his dislocated shoulder to determine whether he will be fit for the start of the new season.

Petrov suffered the setback during the first half of the Peace Cup clash with Atlante in Spain.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill is desperate for the club's player of the year to be fit, given the departure of Gareth Barry to Manchester City.

He said: "It's a concern to us. It's pretty obvious that he may be a doubt for the start of the season."
