Sam Allardyce ready to sign bad-boy Diouf

The West Ham manager is desperate to add to his squad, who play at Brighton tonight, following a crop of injuries and is a known admirer of Diouf, after managing him at Bolton and Blackburn.
Many West Ham supporters have never forgiven the Senegalese striker for an alleged spitting incident at fans when he was at Liverpool and his signing would be a risky strategy.
Diouf is a free agent having been released by Blackburn and has been training with West Ham.
Allardyce needs to bolster his squad following an injury to Henri Lansbury, who will be out of action for eight weeks with a knee ligament problem. Also out for tonight's match at Brighton's new Amex Stadium are Carlton Cole, Matt Taylor and James Tomkins.
"El Hadji Diouf is a quality player who West Ham fans will appreciate if they see him," said Allardyce, who will decide later this week whether to sign the player.
After losing 1-0 at Southampton last week, Allardyce is determined his side will respond. He said: "This is critical. We have to get a result. I don't want back-to-back defeats."
