SFA not serious about Dan Petrescu

The Scottish Football Association have distanced themselves from reports Dan Petrescu is in the frame to become Scotland manager.

It had been claimed the Unirea Urziceni boss was set for talks about succeeding George Burley in the next few days.

But it is understood that the SFA had only agreed to meet with the former Chelsea defender's London-based advisor Francesca de Sousa, rather than Petrescu himself.

The meeting with De Sousa - who has been touting her client for the job - was arranged as a courtesy but is now likely to be scrapped after knowledge of it became public.

Petrescu is not believed to be a serious contender to replace Burley, with the SFA board still drawing up their list of potential targets.
