Nemanja Vidic headed home a free-kick in the 31st minute to give United the lead, but what happened with six minutes remaining provoked the ire of Spurs fans.
Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes rolled the ball out to set himself up for a free-kick after Nani handled the ball. However, the winger was not penalised and Nani then bundled the ball home into an empty net, giving Sir Alex Ferguson's side a 2-0 victory.
April 2009
Spurs were 2-0 up at Old Trafford before conceding a disputed penalty. Replays showed there was minimal contact from Gomes and Michael Carrick but Ronaldo's spot-kick was the turning point. United struck four more goals in the next 22 minutes to prevail 5-2.
January 2005
Late into the game at Old Trafford, with the scores tied at 0-0, Spurs were denied victory as Pedro Mendes' long-range shot clearly crossed the line. But incredulity reigned as the goal was not given.
Mendes' effort from the halfway line was fumbled by an out-of-position Roy Carroll, who only scooped the ball out of his goal after it went over the line. The incident is indelible in supporters' minds as one of the most controversial moments in Premier League history.
