Forest tie called off as Clarke collapses
28 August 2007
The Irish left back, a former West Ham player, was taken ill in the dressing room during the interval.
Concern: Leicester defender Clive Clarke (left) collapsed in the dressing room
Paramedics rushed down the tunnel to attend to Clarke shortly after the half-time whistle and a Leicester spokesman confirmed the player was receiving medical attention in an ambulance and was conscious.
It was announced over the public address system that the start of the second half would be delayed by 15 minutes but shortly afterwards, Forest manager Colin Calderwood appeared on the pitch along with Leicester boss Martin Allen and it was announced that the game was being called off.
Calderwood said: ' Unfortunately, the match is being postponed due to the illness of a Leicester player. The important thing is that the player concerned gets the best possible treatment so we would appeal to all fans that they leave the ground quietly.'
Clarke, who is on the books at Roy Keane's Sunderland and has played for his country at senior level, signed a three-month loan deal with Leicester earlier this month.
Nottingham Forest were 1-0 ahead when the game was called off and they went ahead through Junior Agogo in the 28th minute following a sustained spell of pressure. Agogo rose to head home a Kris Commons corner.
But Forest did not have it all their own way and goalkeeper Paul Smith had to be at his best to deny efforts from Iain Hume and James Wesolowski.
