Strike force: Pekhart

Pekhart, 19, impressed in his first season at Academy level in 2006-07 and was top-scorer for the reserve team last season.

'He's a big striker, he likes to be in the box and when you get into those positions you will get chances- it's then about taking them,' Poyet told Tottenham's website.

'It's an important milestone for him and that is always the case with goals when you are a striker.'

With stand-in skipper Robbie Keane reported to be on his way to Liverpool and Dimitar Berbatov en route to Manchester United, Pekhart may get his chance to shine with the first team earlier than planned.
