Foxes fuming at ref as Kisnorbo sees red

Joslin, in his final season, not only gave Ipswich a controversial penalty to send them 2-1 in front but he also sent off Leicester defender Patrick Kisnorbo for bringing down Pablo Counago for the spot-kick, when it appeared the Leicester player had made contact with the ball.

Ipswich boss Jim Magilton sent his team out with a flea in the ear after their defeat at Charlton, calling their performance 'embarrassing and totally unacceptable' in his programme notes. 'We lacked character and bravery.'

But of course Ipswich are a far different proposition at Portman Road, where only Barnsley have taken a point this season, and normal service was resumed last night.

Ipswich made changes as they looked for their first win in four with Luis Castro Sito, Danny Haynes and Counago coming in for Dan Harding, Tommy Miller and Gary Roberts.

Holloway made five changes to the side that lost to West Bromwich with defender Hossein Kaebi making his debut.

Leicester certainly don't give home teams too much, having lost only once on their travels.

But they went behind in the 19th minute and it was down to Haynes, whose pace left Joe Mattock for dead and he centered low for Counago to drive a shot into the roof of the net for his ninth goal of the season.

But Ipswich did not kick on from there, even though Jonathan Walters claimed a penalty as Alan Sheehan appeared to body check him, and in the 27th minute Leicester were level. Striker Iain Hume shrugged off the attentions of Ipswich skipper Jason de Vos and Fabian Wilnis and caught keeper Neil Alexander off his line with a lob from 15 yards for his fifth goal of the season.

Counago should have made it 2-1 on 33 minutes but steered his header from David Wright's cross past the right post.

The game erupted five minutes later when Kisnorbo sent Counago flying.

At first the referee appeared to give a corner kick but after words with his assistant, decided Kisnorbo had committed a professional foul and pointed to the penalty spot.

Leicester players were enraged and Kisnorbo was sent off despite his protests.

Video replays suggest he got a foot on the ball in his challenge on Counago and was unlucky to be sent off, but he did not leave the field immediately, which may put him in hot water with the FA.

Ipswich striker Alan Lee waited patiently and then fired the 41st minute spot-kick firmly to the left of keeper Marton Fulop to give Ipswich a 2-1 lead and make up for his appalling penalty miss at Charlton last Saturday.

The penalty helped Ipswich on their way to maintaining a home record that is in stark contrast to their shocking, winless away form that has prevented them from being a solid top-six team.

And even last night they were fortunate in the 59th minute when central defender De Vos got in a great block to deny a goalbound shot from Hume.

Then Walters increased Ipswich's lead in the 65th minute when he easily netted the third after a flicked header across goal from Counago.
