Frank Lampard looks to management

Frank Lampard has admitted that he has changed his mind about his long term future in football and decided to take his coaching badges.

Lampard had consistently stated he would not be interested in following his father Frank Lampard senior or uncle Harry Redknapp in having a coaching career after retiring from playing, but he has now had a change of heart.

The 30-year-old said: "A few years ago I didn't really feel like getting into management, I felt I would want to get away from football after I've stopped playing.

"But now I'm a bit older and I've worked with so many good managers and looked at younger players, it has given me a little taste to maybe get involved."

The Chelsea star believes he has a wealth of knowledge to pass onto young players and has been helped by playing under some of the best managers in the game. After starting his career under Redknapp's guidance at West Ham, he has gone on to be coached by Jose Mourinho, Luiz Felipe Scolari and Guus Hiddink at Chelsea.

Lampard is still looking forward to several more seasons as a player at Chelsea, but he is also tempted by the thought of managing them or another team one day

He said: "I will take my badges at some stage towards the end of my career, so I'm in a position where it is a big possibility for me. I would love to be able to work with players.

"I've always had good relationships with my managers. Each one has helped take my game on to another level. Whether they have been successful or not, I have always taken a lot of plus points from all of them. Hopefully if I go into management one day I will take a little bit from everyone with me."
