Frank Lampard tells Chelsea 'don't waste another chance'

Frank Lampard has told his Chelsea team-mates they can't afford to waste any more chances to win the Champions League and urged them to go for victory against Barcelona in the first leg tonight.

Chelsea are in the semi-finals for the fifth time in the last six years but have yet to win the trophy.

They take on Barcelona in the first leg at the Nou Camp rated as outsiders to make it through to their second final in a row.

Chelsea are planning a mass overhaul of the squad in the summer, with five key members of the first team, including Michael Ballack, Didier Drogba and Ricardo Carvalho, aged 30 or above.

Lampard is another member of the post-30 club and is worried the current team are running out of opportunities to win European football's biggest prize. He said: "We crave success and we have basically achieved everything else domestically. Europe is the one that is always hanging over us. The more years that it comes and doesn't happen, you wonder will I ever?

"You don't feel it all the time but in big games like against Liverpool in the quarter-final, when you know you could be going out, that's when it really kicks in."

The England international can't wait to take on the Spanish League leaders and hopes his team-mates approach the match in the same way as they did the first leg of their quarter-final against Liverpool at Anfield, where they ran out 3-1 winners.

He added: "We certainly don't have to win but there is a huge emphasis on away goals now. That's the attitude we took to Liverpool. We have to learn from that game and take it to Barcelona. If we get an away goal, then we will have a good chance at Stamford Bridge."
