Frozen Fire tops entries for St Leger

Ante-post favourite Frozen Fire heads a list of 18 contenders for Saturday's Ladbrokes St Leger at Doncaster.

The colt is one of eight possible runners for Aidan O'Brien but two other leading hopes, Centennial and Patkai, have been left out at today's confirmation stage.

John Gosden has decided that Centennial, as short as 5-1 for the final Classic of the season, would not be supplemented.

Gosden, who won the 1m6f contest 12 months ago with Lucarno, had considered adding Centennial to the race after he bounced back to form in the rescheduled Great Voltigeur Stakes at Goodwood.

However, Peter Shoemark, Gosden's racing secretary, said: "It has been decided not to supplement Centennial for the St Leger. We are going to look instead at the Prix Niel at Longchamp."

Sir Michael Stoute has taken out 5-1 shot Patkai, who flopped behind Centennial at Goodwood last time, but the trainer is represented by Conduit, Doctor Fremantle and Warringah in a bid to break his St Leger duck.

Ralph Beckett's Look Here could make her first start since her Oaks triumph in June, while fellow filly Unsung Heroine is still in the mix for Tommy Stack.
