Frustrated Jol says: Let me get on with my job
26 August 2007
Spurs vice-chairman Paul Kemsley claimed on Sunday that the meeting had been set up primarily "to discuss Sevilla's model for success".
Jol: 'Let me get on with the job and we will be fine'
Jol, who complained bitterly that Spurs were denied two penalties in their 1-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford, said: "Nothing would surprise me, because I know football.
"It's always handy to have everybody there (at the meeting) so they can see how the whole club works.
"Hopefully, all the people who have seen me over the past three years know everything they can about me and can make a judgment. Everybody is entitled to their opinions and their apology. Let me get on with the job and we will be fine."
Tottenham suffered a third defeat in four matches this season when Nani embarrassed Paul Robinson with a speculative shot from outside the penalty area.
Referee Howard Webb ignored the appeals of Tottenham's players when Nemanja Vidic collided with Dimitar Berbatov and waved away protests when Spurs claimed Wes Brown handled a Berbatov shot.
On the second incident, Jol added: "It was a penalty and everybody could see it. He used everything like a keeper - and he's not a keeper. He's a defender and he's not supposed to keep it out of the net with his hands.
"I feel sometimes at this ground you don't get what you should. If we had got the penalty we'd have come away with a win. If you use even a bit of your arm it's a penalty.
"The referee made a decision not to give it. That was the second time. United were not the better team."

Nani's 68th-minute strike proved decisive and moved the champions out of the bottom three. But Sir Alex Ferguson knows that his side were fortunate to win all three points.
He said: "There was nothing in the game but it was a vital victory for us. It was a war of attrition. They dug in and hurt us a couple of times on the counter-attack.
"At the time (of the penalty appeals), with them protesting so much, I thought it must have been a penalty, but Wes said it hit him on the chest. It almost looked like handball but I think it hit his chest - I'm sure of that.
"We showed what was required to win and there's no question we're good enough to win the title. The quality of our game is there and we have good players, and others to come back." MATCH FACTS
