Fulham boss Hodgson prepared to give Healy a start against Reading

Roy Hodgson is preparing to give David Healy a rare start against Reading on Saturday.

Chances have been limited for the striker, but following his superb goal against Sunderland after coming off the bench last weekend Hodgson is willing to give him another chance to impress.

Impressed with striker: Fulham boss Roy Hodgson is prepared to give David Healy his starting chance against Reading this weekend

Hodgson said: "It was a wonder goal. He did very, very well and I think he's been playing well in training.

"He's really accepted not being in the team very well. I've been very impressed by his professionalism. Certainly we haven't had that many goals scored and that many players pushing themselves in front of me saying 'use me, I'm your goal scorer'.

"His shares have risen enormously in value with that wonder goal and the fact the he almost scored a second with a header late on in the game."

Healey, who was brought to Craven Cottage last summer by Lawrie Sanchez, has generally struggled to replicate his magnificent form for Northern Ireland in the Premier League.

Fulham lost 3-1 against the Mackems last weekend and desperately need to beat Reading to keep their slim survival hopes alive.
