The academy product said: "If I am playing well then things might happen and, if a new contract is there, I would be happy to sign it.
"I am flattered by the Arsenal story. I think it's a good thing for me. If I am playing well week in and week out, i will get other clubs looking at me.
"I've heard about the story but that's about it really. I am happy at Villa."
Agbonlahor has flourished since O'Neill immediately made him a first team regular on becoming Villa manager 16 months ago and is delighted the Irishman has pledged his future to the midlands club.
He said: "It was a tremendous boost hearing the gaffer say he would turn down England if they asked him.
"With what he has done so far here in the last year or two, you can see how much the fans and players have taken to him.
"It would be very upsetting if he left but hopefully now he has committed his future it will be a big boost for us.
"The FA are looking for a really good manager to take the job and Martin is one of the best managers in football so you can see why they might be looking at him.
"He gives us confidence before the game and seems to get the best out of us."
