English amateur Gary Wolstenholme will fulfil his American dream today after getting a last-minute entry into the U.S. Open.
The unemployed 47-year-old, first alternate in the event of anyone pulling out, got the news he was waiting for all week when American Sean O'Hair withdrew with a chest muscle injury yesterday.

Wolstenholme, a six-time Walker Cup player who once beat a young Tiger Woods in that event, had scraped the funds together for a chance to mix it with the game's millionaires.
He arrived last Sunday but was beginning to think it a wasted trip until he got his reward around noon yesterday.
He will make his debut alongside South African Richard Sterne and American Hunter Mahan, two men he used to duel with in big amateur events.
Before a hastily-arranged first practice round late yesterday, Wolstenholme said: 'This is fantastic news and makes all the hanging around and all the expense of the trip worthwhile. I can't wait to play.'
