GB to face Croatia on Wimbledon's No1. Court

Great Britain will play their Davis Cup World Group play-off against Croatia on Wimbledon's number one court

Britain sealed their place in September's play-offs by beating Holland 4-1 in the Euro-Africa Zone Group One tie at the NEC in Birmingham in April.

"I am delighted that this crucial tie is going to be played at Wimbledon which is a fantastic venue and will help give us the edge against what is sure to be a very talented Croatian side," captain John Lloyd said.

"It's a tough draw but given the strength of our team it is a tie we are fully capable of winning. "After the success of Birmingham we are really pleased we have another home tie.

"I am sure tennis fans will get behind the team and come along to support the players at what promises to be one of the highlights of the sporting calendar."

Britain lost their last Davis Cup tie at Wimbledon, suffering a humiliating 3-2 defeat to Ecuador in 2000.

Ian Ritchie, chief executive of the All England Club said: "We are thrilled to be hosting such an important match at a key time for the development of British tennis.

"We very much look forward to working with the team at the LTA to deliver a memorable Davis Cup tie at the All England Club."

The tie will take place from September 21-23.

Greg Rusedski will not be available after retiring following the win over Holland, but Andy Murray and Tim Henman will lead the British challenge against the highly-ranked Croatians, who can call on Ivan Ljubicic and former Wimbledon semi-finalist Mario Ancic.

Ancic defeated Tim Henman in the quarter-finals in 2004 while Ljubicic beat Murray in the final in Doha in January this year.
