Ghaly eyes Egypt return rather than 'meaningless' season at Spurs

Hossam Ghaly has said he would rather return to club football in Egypt than spend a season on the sidelines at Tottenham.

Ghaly, who spent last season on loan at Derby, has returned to north London but doesn't expect to see first-team action with the White Hart Lane club.

'It would be meaningless to stay with Tottenham this season because the board made it clear that my chances of playing are limited after last year’s problems,' he told FilGoal.com.

'I am still anticipating offers from Europe but if nothing came this summer then a return to Ahli on loan could be fitting.'

A knee injury sustained during Egypt's 2-0 win over Malawi in June that is set to sideline the midfielder for another two months has added to Ghaly's woes.

'I am really disappointed with the timing of the injury but I hope to be fit soon,' he added.
