Gillett slams Hicks for creating Anfield turmoil ahead of Liverpool's Champions League semi-final

Gillett's blast came hours after Hicks had given an explosive TV interview in which he branded Parry's reign 'disastrous' and reiterated his demand that he resign.

Happier times: Gillett meets fans before last year's Champions League final, but is worried about jeopardising another shot at the trophy
Gillett hit back and claimed his co-owner's latest public outburst had provided another unwanted distraction ahead of Tuesday's semi-final first leg with Chelsea at Anfield.
He said: "If Tom wanted a serious discussion on the issues to help the club move forward, he should bring his views to the board and not to Sky Sports.
"Here we are, a few days from a Champions League semi-final and Tom has created turmoil again with his public comments."
Hicks, speaking on Sky Sports News on Thursday, warned that the stalemate over the club's future will continue until Gillett agrees to sell his stake.
"Look at what's happened under Rick's leadership. It has been a disaster," said Hicks. "We have fallen so far behind the other leading clubs.
"We should have had the stadium built three or four years ago. We have two or three major sponsors when we should have 12 or 15 and we are not doing anything in Asia.
"We have still got the top brand in the world of football but that's no good if you don't know how to commercialise it. Rick needs to resign. He has put his heart into it but it's time for a change."
Hicks admitted his relationship with Gillett is 'unworkable' and said: "We started as friends but 50- 50 is a difficult business proposition.
"If George doesn't sell — because I'm not going to sell — I guess we stay in this position that we are in.
"I'm planning to make him a very attractive offer. If I had a majority on it (ownership of Liverpool) I could put more capital in. My goal is to take all the debt off the club except the working capital needed and get the permanent financing in place for the stadium."
Hicks insisted that Dubai International Capital — who have been trying to buy out both Americans — 'do not have a seat at the table'.
Gillett reiterated that he will not consider selling his 50 per cent holding to his partner, adding: "He knows that Rick Parry has my support and that airing comments this way will not change my position.
"I was also taken aback by his version of the events, as reported. We need to find a way forward that is properly funded and truly in the best interests of the club."
After the Hicks interview, Parry said: "It's for the board to ask me to resign, but they haven't. I'm accountable to the board, but they haven't discussed it with me."
