Glazers: Ronaldo is not for sale to Real Madrid, even for world record £70m

Cristiano Ronaldo repeated yesterday that he wouldn't talk about his future until after Euro 2008

The Glazer family will refuse to sell Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid - at any price.

The Spanish giants are reportedly close to offering an extraordinary £70 million for the Portuguese star to the debt-ridden Glazers but the American owners of United are not prepared to let him go.

A senior source close to the family, as reported in the Sun, said: "There is no way Ronaldo is for sale at all, even if he puts in a transfer request.

"Anyone thinking the debt comes into this is totally ignorant of the facts.

"The debt is covered comfortably by the interest payments.

"In the past three years the family have owned the club, they have shown a clear track record of investment which will continue.

"The Glazers have never meddled in anything the manager has done and never will interfere.

“All decisions on buying and selling are down to him and if he wants new players the money is there.

“There is no truth in any insinuation we would be willing to talk to Real Madrid about selling Cristiano. That is nonsense.”

United are adamant Ronaldo must return to training three weeks after Portugal’s Euro 2008 campaign ends.

The midfielder has again said he won't discuss his future until after the tournament, with Portugal facing a quarter-final showdown with Germany.
