Goal-shy Berbatov is aiming to make his opponents pay

Dimitar Berbatov has no intention of being dismissed as a one-season wonder.

That is why the supremely talented Bulgarian is searching to find the solution for his failure to provide Spurs with the goals expected from him this season.

'You ask if I'm happy with my form? No,' said the 26-year-old, who has scored just one goal in seven matches. 'Not at the moment.

'When you don't score it's frustrating. But if I don't and others do and we win, as we did against Middlesbrough in midweek in the Carling Cup, then that's the important thing. That is when everyone is happy.'

Spurs believe that Berbatov will soon make opponents pay for his frustration — hopefully starting against Aston Villa at White Hart Lane tomorrow night.

'I cannot give a reason for my form, not exactly. Maybe the defenders know me better. But I have to say if they think that's the cause, then it shouldn't be.

'Last year was very good for me and, yes, it has become more difficult. But it's not an excuse and I try to work even harder. I will keep pushing until I score again.

'It's depressing when you lose, but when that happens you must keep your head up and keep working hard.'
