Grant admits showdown talks with two unhappy stars but Drogba isn't one

Avram Grant today admitted he has had talks with two players unhappy at Chelsea following the departure of Jose Mourinho - but neither of them was Didier Drogba.

The striker was believed to be upset with Mourinho's departure in September but Blues boss Grant said: "Didier behaves very well and gives 100 per cent every game. I am happy with him."

"Sometimes players come to me and say they are unhappy. Two have done this but it doesn't matter who."

Speculation will continue to grow over Frank Lampard's future after chief executive Peter Kenyon today confirmed the midfielder's contract talks remain on hold.

Lampard has 18 months left to run on his deal but Kenyon said: "There are no more discussions to be had on any contracts. Everybody agreed that we would concentrate on football this season, maximising our opportunities.

"Contracts we need to discuss will be discussed again towards the end of the season."

Allowing Lampard to run down his contract is a risky strategy but after many months of negotiations there was no sign of an agreement.
