Grant and Norwich part after poor run

Assistant Jim Duffy stepped in as caretaker manager of Norwich City last night as manager Peter Grant left the Coca-Cola Championship club by mutual consent.

A 1-0 defeat at fellow strugglers QPR on Monday night left them in the relegation zone, with just eight points from their opening 10 games.

Gone: Peter Grant has left Carrow Road

Former Celtic midfielder Grant, 42, who succeeded the sacked Nigel Worthington a year ago, said: "It was a very difficult decision but in the end it was the right one for me and the club.

"The balls haven't bounced right for me over the last 12 months. I don't like being second best but it's a results-driven business."
