I'm joining Blackburn but don't tell a soul: Winterburn's big on defence

The former Arsenal, West Ham and Wimbledon full-back Nigel will travel with the team to their pre-season training camp in Germany on Wednesday.

Rovers chairman John Williams said: 'Pulling together a new backroom team with
the right balance of skills, experience and ideas across sports science,
recruitment and coaching is clearly important and we are nearly there now.'

Left-back Winterburn made 440 appearances for the Gunners in a 13-year spell at the club, and was part of the all-English back line along with David Seaman, Lee Dixon, Tony Adams and Steve Bould.

Capped twice for England under Graham Taylor, Winterburn played 678 matches in all, netting 17 goals.
